Run For Your Life It's Poetry Time |
That Is TodayThe following was/is really a song. It developed from ideas in the previous two pieces, and those ideas were combined to create this.
You have to watch it all so close,
It changes if you blink. They will not teach you anything, Then tell you what to think. You dare not drive if you have had, one single little drink. That stupid purple dinosaur, Has pushed you to the brink. That is today. What is today? Was it today? Or was that yesterday? You always keep some latex near, Because of the disease. The cigarettes you do not smoke, Will make you cough and wheeze There's lots of things you cannot eat, They'll make your bowels seize. Most everyone who has a voice, It seems you must appease. That is today. What is today? Was it today? Or was that yesterday? "If there's a god" you always say Not sure what you believe. It seems to you the country's drunk, Long after new years eve. "I'm on your side" they always say, "Look nothing up my sleeve." "Please let me drive this ship of state, I promise I won't weave." That is today. What is today? Was it today? Or was that yesterday? - Jeff Huber (1995) |
