Run For Your Life It's Poetry Time

The poems here from 1995 and prior where originally grouped together in a small volume called "Run for your life!! It's Poetry Time!" which was published in 1995 in a variety of mediums including a printed version that as far as I know of no copies remain, a self executing program that displayed text on a PC, in the form of an email sent out to requesting subscribers of the old E.T.I.M.L. (E-Text Information Mailing List), was available as a series of web pages in two places if I remember correctly, and was what later became the starting point for the "Run for your life!! It's Poetry Time!" section of the website called "The Eclectic Web".

Below is the original introduction to that selection of poems but remember that it only applies to the poems here from 1995 and before.

Except where specifically stated otherwise, these were all written just as they are presented here, straight through from beginning to end, with no changes or corrections made (except for correction of some spelling errors).

For a period of time, I used to logon to a Computer BBS, and write a rhyme or poem, as a way of exercising my brain. The BBS had one of those line editors that won't let you go back and make changes to a previous line. This forced me to build from each line, without being able to go back and change anything previously written. It was basically just a fun way to get my mind in gear, and prepare me for doing other writing.

Most of these are either just plain silly, or at most, only slightly serious. Although some of them do actually contain some real thoughts :-)

Those who are "serious" poets, or "serious" poetry readers, will probably hate these. I am not a fan of most "good" poetry. I do love some classic poetry of certain types, and am in general a fan of rhymes, etc.
