Run for your life! It's poetry time.

Waning Moon

In twilight sky I saw you come
One time upon the Eastern night
And watched you chase the sun
Around the world and out of sight
A brighter face is never shown
On any moon I've ever known

From night to night I watched your chase
And wondered why you would succeed
For, though you seemed to gain in pace
You lost a lot of light indeed
And when the nightly race was done
You were swallowed by the sun

I cried a tear to see you go
For you had come to be a friend
My heart it's sadness dared to show
And grieve your suicidal end
But give old earth a couple of spins
And from the sun you're born again
