A Weird Wonderful Ride

This poem is in three stanzas the second of which is the chorus to a song, the end of which is the fade out for the song, and the first of which is one section of the song. When I wrote it I basically had the first and second stanzas buzzing in my head and wrote them down so they would stop annoying me with the intent to write the rest of the song later. After a week or few I added the fade out part in and typed it up as a poem because while many other verses for the song kept mildly floating around in my head, none demanded to come out, and I felt that the piece stood okay as a little poem. Many of the various other verses are written down here and there, and a couple of versions of the longer song exist but are not really finished. Eventually I will hopefully go back and dig them all up and finish the song because I like it and still hear it playing in my head some days.

I saw Elvis kiss Minnie Pearl,
In a gas station run by this guy Earl.
Earl sees something new everyday,
Why last week he talked with JFK.

Life's a weird and wonderful ride,
If you open your eyes up really wide.
It's a weird and wonderful ride,
So open your mind and do not hide
Your thoughts from me, your feelings too.
Talk with me and I'll talk with you.

It's a weird and wonderful ride.
A weird and wonderful ride.
